New twist in replacement of Bob Collymore as Safaricom CEO

Kenyans on Thursday morning woke up to the news of the purported replacement of Safaricom CEO Bob Collymore with a corporate executive from Ghana.

Two bloggers with a sizeable following had splashed news of Collymore being replaced by a Ms Yolanda Zuleka Cuba, the CEO of Vodafone Ghana to replace sacked Bob Collymore.

The blogs had also reported that the new CEO was taking over after the former CEO was fired.

A spot-check by Pulselive.co.ke, however, found rather dumbfounding revelations. The photo of the alleged Ms Cuba was fake and belonged to a Ms Lucy Quist, who previously served at Airtel Ghana.

A further follow up with sources inside the telecommunications company established that the giant company had already signed a two-year contract with Collymore, guaranteeing him his position until 2019.

Coincidentally, the news was released in a coordinated manner and widely shared by two bloggers who are currently facing a myriad of criminal and defamation suits.

The motive of the two bloggers, in targeting a man who is seeking medical treatment, remains unclear.

Here is the Photo of the real Ms Cuba:
